Program Description
The HVAC Training Program is designed to prepare individuals to specialize in installing and maintaining heating and air-conditioning units in residential homes, retail stores, and other buildings.
Occupational Objectives
The goal of this program is to prepare students for employment in any of the related areas of the trade such as:
- HVAC Service Technician,
- Heating, Ventilation,
- Air Conditioning Service Technician (HVAC Service Technician),
- Air Conditioning Technician (HVAC Technician),
- Air Conditioning Installer (HVAC Installer),
- HVAC Specialist (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Specialist),
- HVAC Technician (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technician),
- Air Conditioning Technician (AC Tech),
- Air Conditioning Mechanic (HVAC Mechanic),
- HVAC Installer (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Installer).
Program Objectives
This training will prepare HVAC students to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, install, service, and maintain the operating condition of the heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
The program includes instruction in diagnostic techniques, the use of testing equipment, and the principles of mechanics, electricity, and electronics as they relate to the repair of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
NATE is an independent organization that certifies installation or service technicians with a knowledge-based test. Organizations that are part of the NATE coalition include the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers.
Each campus has a Career Services Department that will work with you to secure employment in your chosen profession.
